熱塑性彈性體TPE(Thermoplastic Elastomer )，又稱人造橡膠或合成橡膠。其產品既具備傳統交聯硫化橡膠的高彈性、耐老化、耐油性各項優異性能，同時又具備普通塑料異型材加工方便、加工方式廣的特點。

TPE塑料主要由二部分組成，一是塑料，作為連續相，二是橡膠作為分散相。通常橡膠需要與軟化油或增塑劑與之配合，但TPE熱塑性彈性體配方體系組分眾多，由于各組分結構性質差異，機理不明確，給阻燃處理帶來了不小難度，在使用過程中也會存在很大的安全隱患，這給TPE產品的使用帶來了一定的局限性。那么，TPE阻燃處理可能遇到哪些難點呢?

阻燃劑選擇難度大：阻燃劑與基材的相容性差。彈性體系中阻燃劑的加入量稍大時，特別是在無鹵阻燃中，TPS彈性模量、柔韌性、力學性能、耐磨性能大幅度下降，熔體流動性變差，彈性體難于成型，且表面容易出現阻燃劑遷移，構成污染環境。

增塑劑降低阻燃性：TPE塑料為了降低塑料異型材制品硬度使其手感更柔和，往往需要添加增塑劑(白油)

線材表面不光滑：TPE線材加工經常會發生，一般是由于溫度沒調節好和阻燃劑混合不均勻造成的，也有可能是選模不正確引起，當然跟材料配方也有很大的關系。

塑料異型材線材表面析出：目前為止沒有哪家的材料能保證完全不析出，具體析出表現為：表面發白、冒油或成霧狀。以現在的技術來說，這個問題還沒有解決。建議客戶在選擇的時候最好選擇表面輕微發白的材料，這種析出不會影響它的物理性能和電力性能。表面冒油的材料不要用，在使用中容易產生脫落，掉皮。另外析出也有輕重之分，好的材料它的析出是輕微的，而且在短期內是不容易發生的，就算發生用手輕輕一擦就好了。

加工難度：彈性體表現在加工速度比較慢，比PVC要慢50%左右。溫度不好調節，調機時都要浪費很多料，加上做料前還要洗機，浪費可謂不小。這些都是不可避免的。在生產中有時還會出現前段生產一切正常，后程加工就有問題的事情發生。在這需要說明一點，副牌料有風險，使用需謹慎。
