ABS塑料型材按其抗沖擊強度可分為超高沖擊型、高沖擊型、中沖擊型等，按其成型加工方式可分為注射、擠出、壓延、真空、吹塑等品級，依據其用途和性能特點可進一步細分為通用、耐熱、電鍍、阻燃、透明、擠板、管材等10個品種，其中通用型注射級ABS塑料市場容量最大。

汽車儀表板是汽車上重要的功能件和裝飾件，若用鋼板來做，不僅成本高，而且還需要經過剪切、沖壓、鉆孔、噴漆等10余道工序，而用ABS塑料來制造配件，只需一次注塑或吹塑即可成型。

1、低氣味ABS塑料型材：汽車內飾追求材料低VOC性能，改善汽車內部的空氣質量。塑料中的小分子有機揮發物易遷移到塑料制品的表面，并揮發到車內空氣中，對乘員造成身體傷害。選擇合適的基材、合適改性方法及加工工藝，可以制得符合汽車制造廠要求的ABS材料。

低氣味ABS材料主要用于生產門板、儀表板飾框、手套箱、中控儀表板、空調出風口等內飾部件，特別是空調出風口這樣的需要經受更高的溫度并傳導空氣的部件。

2、耐熱ABS塑料型材：對于一些需要經受較高溫度的部件，ABS的耐熱性還需要提高。提高ABS耐熱性的一種常用方法是將ABS與PC共混做成ABS/PC合金。耐熱ABS通常用于制造空調出風口、散熱格柵等耐熱部件。對于散熱格柵，提高耐熱性，可以防止部件變形，從而防止電鍍層因變形而發生的脫落，它也有用ABS或者ASA制造的。門板由于面積大、需要耐沖擊等因素，也采用PC/ABS合金。高檔車的擋泥板也是ABS/PC合金做的。

3、消光ABS ：汽車駕駛室內強烈的光線反射會造成駕駛人員的不適和疲勞，并在夜間影響駕駛員的視覺。所以，消光ABS在汽車駕駛室內部件上具有廣泛應用。由于ABS是一種高光潔度的工程塑料，所以在改性過程中，選擇相對光潔度低，分子量分布寬的樹脂牌號。并選用片狀或針狀、粒度大的填料。這樣可以提高制品表面粗糙度，從而使光線散射，達到消光效果。

4、電鍍級ABS塑料型材：雖然ABS美觀效果較好，但是為了追求更好的美觀效果，常常需要對ABS進行電鍍、涂裝等表面美飾處理。

電鍍級ABS通過加入一定量的橡膠進行改性以提高材料極性。電鍍級ABS主要應用在散熱格柵、飾標等部件上。耐候ABS由于含有雙鍵，容易在陽光和熱氧的作用下發生降解而粉化、變色和喪失部分力學性能。因此，外飾件用ABS一般要使用耐候ABS。

汽車塑料化的難點之一是車身外板的塑料化。車身外板包括前后擋泥板、隔板和面板等，其材料用量最大，而且要求材料具有抗沖擊性、耐熱性和剛性。ABS樹脂和工程塑料的合金具備這些性能，可用做車身外板材料。汽車內飾件對汽車的舒適性和安全性起著重要作用?，F代汽車內飾板大多為整體成型，外觀豪華，一般都選用ABS樹脂。
