現代生活中用塑料材質生產的塑膠異型材制品各式各樣，廣泛的應用在多個行業中，工業在建筑配件，機器配件，家電配件，裝飾配件等等上使用特別廣，生活中的使用制品有很多也都是塑料制品。不同的使用場所說用到的塑料配件不一樣，對應的生產方式也不同，塑料制品一般可以分為擠出成型、注塑成型、熱成型、中空成型、層壓成型等等工藝，下面說說塑膠異型材擠出生產過程：

一：塑膠異型材制品生產的一般過程如下：
在以上生產工藝過程中，塑料制品擠出生產工藝只包括配方設計、主輔料的配混、擠出加工、冷卻定型、牽引計長切割及貼膜打印與翻料過程。

因而從異型材的應用角度而言，塑膠異型材的擠出生產類似于木制品的半成品材料生產(伐木后對木材的鋸解保存處理)。從以上異型材生產工藝的一般要求同樣也說明了對異型材生產裝備的功能要求和技術路線，即在配方設計（反復實驗）和物料配混工序完成后，異型材擠出裝備必須連續和全自動的完成上料、塑化、排氣、擠出、成型、冷卻定型、牽引、計長切割、堆料的全過程。而要連續高效的完成每一步工序并最終生產出合乎標準的異型材，其中涉及的技術關聯程度是相當高的，裝備技術與加工對象具體工藝要求的科學匹配往往成為目前擠出技術工作中最具實踐意義的工作。與切削加工無機金屬材料的機床不同，作為對有機高分子聚合物（塑料異型材）成型加工的異型材裝備，其異型材的性能特性和成型精度不僅與裝備精度有關，更與加工對象的物性和加工的各種歷程（熱歷程、流變歷程、相變歷程等）及其匹配程度有關。因此，從裝備技術的創新發展和異型材生產工藝的更深入研究兩方面的提高將推動異型材擠出技術向更高層次飛躍。
