處于高彈態下的塑料分子，動能增加，鏈段展開成網狀，但分子的運動仍維持在小鏈段的旋轉，鏈與鏈之間不發生位置移動。受外力作用時可產生緩慢形變，當外力除去后，又是慢慢恢復原狀。在這種狀態下，塑料具有一種類似橡膠的彈性，所以又稱橡膠態。通常稱為彈性或橡膠體的高聚物，便函是在室溫下處于高彈態的高聚物。

塑膠型材高彈態有兩個特點：

（1）在較小作用力下可產生較大變形，外力解除后能恢復原狀。

（2）高彈形變并非瞬間發生，而是隨時間逐漸發展。與普通的彈性形變不同，在同樣外力作用下，形變要延遲一段時間才能完成，而且形變量大，松弛性也較明顯。

三、塑膠型材的工藝下的粘流性：處于粘流態下的塑料分子，網狀結構已經解體，大分子鏈與鏈之間，鏈段與鏈段之間都有能夠自由移動?？梢哉f，這是塑料的“液體”存在的形式，只是粘性大，物理構成不同，力學性質不同。當給予外力時，分子間很容易相互滑動，造成塑性體的變形，除去外力便不再恢復原狀。

塑膠型材熱成型過程可以這樣描述：通過熱和力的作用，讓塑料從室溫的玻璃態，經歷程高彈態轉變為粘流態，注射入具有一定形狀的封閉模腔，然后在模腔內逐漸冷卻，從粘流態轉回玻璃態，形成與模腔形狀一致的制品。
